Connected Health Conference 2018 Keynote Series: Cityblock Health's Iyah Romm Believes Zip Codes Are Better Predictors Of Health Outcomes Than Biology
Balancing Technology and the Human Element - October 17-19, Boston, MA

ARLINGTON, Va. and BOSTON, August 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Personal Connected Health Alliance (PCHAlliance), a HIMSS innovation company, today announced that Iyah Romm, Co-Founder and CEO, Cityblock Health, will keynote at the 2018 Connected Health Conference. Cityblock Health is an innovative venture-backed care delivery company spun out of Alphabet's Sidewalk Labs, delivering technology-enabled services for low-income individuals in cities across the United States.

Through his previous work at Commonwealth Care Alliance, the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission and several government and health organizations, Romm helped lead, design, and deploy care interventions for individuals frequently considered to be the most "difficult" patients to care for: individuals with serious behavioral health challenges, physical and developmental disabilities, social needs of all kinds, and complex, chronic medical conditions.  Romm learned that scalable solutions require a complete rethinking of current services, technology, and payment models of health delivery. He also saw that providers were frustrated, pulled away from direct patient care, overwhelmed with administrative tasks and unable to keep up with new technologies.

He founded Cityblock Health with the idea that cities should be healthy places to live. Cityblock Health provides comprehensive value-based healthcare, including behavioral health services, to low-income urban populations. Cityblock  directly addresses social determinants of health ranging from food access to transportation, social isolation and loneliness to housing insecurity. The company's digital platform allows Cityblock Health to deliver the right intervention at the right time, and coordinate the activities of many different players working together.

Romm played a major role in Massachusetts' healthcare reform efforts, in particular the advancement of payment system and care delivery redesign. He has served as a member of the National Advisory Committee on Transforming Complex Care and was affiliate faculty at Dr. Atul Gawande's Ariadne Labs. Romm studied Biology at Brandeis University and medicine at Boston University.

PCHAlliance has created an unmatched thought leadership event, bringing together the industry's two leading events -- the Connected Health Conference (formerly the mHealth Summit) and the Partners Connected Health Symposium. This year's theme, Balancing Technology and the Human Element, will showcase forward-thinking approaches and technologies that are driving integration of connected health into consumer health and care delivery. The 10th annual Connected Health Conference will take place October 17-19 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.
