The Connected Life Journey -- Exploring Connected Health Solutions For Our Aging Society, Focus Of 2017 Connected Health Conference
Presented by the Personal Connected Health Alliance in partnership with Partners Connected Health, CHC17 takes place in Boston, October 25-27

WASHINGTON and BOSTON, Oct. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2017 Connected Health Conference (CHC17) will explore how connected health technologies and tools can support healthy aging across the decades.

Connected Health Conference

This year's theme, The Connected Life Journey: Shaping Health and Wellness for Every Generation, reimagines health and wellbeing throughout the life cycle, emphasizing new research, evidence and real-world examples, business models and actionable knowledge to support adoption and implementation of personal connected health at every age and stage of life.

"With advances in technology and connected health tools to better manage health, inspire wellness and combat depression and isolation, we can help people remain engaged, vital and contributing to society with a sense of purpose," said Richard Scarfo, Vice President, PCHAlliance, and Director of the Connected Health Conference. "CHC17 includes panel discussions, keynotes, product demos and poster presentations to help us create better solutions, inspire innovation and enable new partnerships that will improve health and wellness at every age and stage of life."

Envisioning The Connected Life Journey

The closing plenary panel includes some of the greatest minds in aging and connected health, coming together to explore The Connected Life Journey:

  • Dr. Charlotte Yeh, Medical Director, AARP, is committed to and passion for the healthcare consumer, and plays a major role in reimagining aging
  • Dr. Rudy Tanzi, Director, Genetics and Aging Research Unit and Vice-Chair of Neurology, Massachusetts General Hospital, co-discovered the first Alzheimer's disease genes and directs the Alzheimer's Genome Project
  • Dr. Joe Kvedar, Vice President, Connected Health, Partners HealthCare, just published his second book, The New Mobile Age: How Technology will Extend the Healthspan and Enhance the Lifespan, in which he outlines what needs to be done to achieve healthy longevity
  • Dr. Madan Dharmar, Assoc. Professor in Residence, Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, University of California, Davis;  Department of Pediatrics, UC Davis School of Medicine, develops quality measures and innovative technologies to evaluate and improve care delivery
  • Patty Mechael, Executive Vice President, Personal Connected Health Alliance, an early leader in mHealth and its applications in global health
  • Nancy Green, Global Practice Lead, Healthcare, Insurance and  Life Sciences, Verizon Enterprise Solutions (moderator)

Additional programming highlights include innovative approaches, novel collaborations and new technologies and products -- from health and wellness trackers and artificial intelligence to robots and even toys -- that will help people live longer, healthier lives. Some of these tools are enhancing or replacing direct social interaction and otherwise support healthy aging in a population that is often isolated or lonely, while others are promoting active lifestyles and helping to manage chronic disease.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), between 2015 and 2050, the world's population over 60 years of age will nearly double, from 12% to 22%. People are living longer, while the number of healthcare providers and caregivers is shrinking. Connected health provides an important solution to address limited healthcare resources, facilitate patient engagement, promote patient-provider communication and create opportunities to better diagnose and manage health conditions.

With a revitalized focus and new location in Boston -- a hub of health and technology innovation -- CHC17 combines PCHAlliance's Connected Health Conference (formerly the mHealth Summit) and the Partners Connected Health Symposium, creating the preeminent event dedicated to digital and connected health. CHC17 takes place October 25-27 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.
